Is the above "TRUE" /dev/hde6 ?? that is not a standard device.

What and HOW did you install, your not helping here.

That cant be correct, a standard kernel will NOT recocnise /dev/hde
without a special driver being defined on a custom kernel, or at
least thats the impression one gets from the standard documentation.
