Good catch. My RH 6.0 CD actually has RedHat/base and RedHat/Rpms on it.
Within base, the filemanes are all lower case, and all fit the 8.3 limit of
DOS. Within Rpms, most of the filenames are longer than 8.3 and have
multiple .'s in them, so copying them to DOS will change their names in ways
I can't predict. 

A DOS partition would display the names in all upper case no matter what ...
and be subject to 8.3 limits on package names. I don't know how RH reacts to
installs from t=msdos instead of t=iso9660 .
