i had the same problem when i 1st installed linux 2

mine turned out 2 be - only 16MB was being recognized
by the kernel. (on a 128MB sys).

1 telltale sign is - excessive swapping or thrashing - if u will...

is your kernel configured for the EXACT peripherals u have?
this could be a major source of grief if not.

what r the symtoms? [ besides slow :) ]

i boot windows once in a while - it is definately slower.
netscape performance is better on linux - never did install
star-office. i'll do that when i go to kernel 2.2.13

no propaganda here buddy - windows will break  ;)
