Inconsistent soname after "ldconfig".

There are lots of libraries that give a message like:
     ldconfig: warning: /lib/librt-2.1.1.so has inconsistent
     soname (librt.so.1)
What does this mean?
Is this a severe problem?
In the last case:
How can I solve this???
