I suspect you are then using FVWM considering its Redhat-5.2, in that case
i cant give a GUI answer, with Redhat-6.1 its easy because KDE for example
has just what you need, a tool for enlargeing the console text.
On the otherhand why not drop down a step to 1024x768 or even 800x600,
that might even be possable withut doing any configuring, have you tryed
using;
ctrl-alt-(numeric_pad) + and - to change resolutions.?
If that does not work then you can change the defaults in
/etc/X11/XF86Config or /etc/XF86Config
Under section screen for your "used driver" set the resolutions.
# The accel server
Section "Screen"
Driver "accel"
Device "MGA 2164W [Millennium II]"
Monitor "ADI13104"
Subsection "Display"
Depth 16
Modes "1600x1200" "1280x1024" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
ViewPort 0 0
EndSubsection
Subsection "Display"
Depth 8
Modes "1600x1200" "1280x1024" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
ViewPort 0 0
EndSubsection
Subsection "Display"
Depth 32
Modes "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
ViewPort 0 0
EndSubsection
EndSection
Those are mine so the higher resoltions wont work for you, the lower
ones should
You can also define the "Virtuel" screen size lets say 1024x786 then that
will be the highest resoltion allowed.
man XF86Config for more details.
