Get-Rich Tip: Look to Linux. It's beginning to look like the only person who
isn't getting
rich off Linux is Linus Torvalds. On Thursday, VA Linux Systems (LNUX) blew
away the
IPO records with an absurb 733-percent gain on its first day of trading.
Shares priced at $30 in
the morning and were worth $250 by the end of the day. VA Linux Systems
founder Larry
Augustin is now worth more than $1 billion and his company's market cap has
topped $10
billion. And VA Linux is no exception; investors are snapping up anything
Linux this week.
Thursday shares in Corel (CORL) and Perle Systems (PERL) ended at new
52-week highs
thanks to their Linux connections. Wednesday Andover.Net (ANDN) saw its
shares gain
more than 250 percent on its opener. Even a hint of Linux will work: Veritas
Software
(VRTS) shares rose 3 percent Thursday after it announced that its back-up
product would
ship with Red Hat's Linux 6.1 Delux, while last week V-One saw its stock
triple on news of
Linux compatibility.
