Then you have not defined an ip number or did not configure it properly or
did not save the configuration via netcfg.
You can edit the following files.
/etc/sysconfig/network
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
If you dont have an ip number and you only have a local lan, then assign it
one, ie 10.0.0.1
