You should have seen a message saying "Use fsck without any options" before
the prompt, anyway simply type fsck /dev/hdax where x is the partition with
the problem. Answer any questions with "y" or "n"  you will be told whats
wrong.

When a system is shutdown without closing files properly inodes on the disk
do not get updated, fsck should "fix" that for you.
