I was in /usr//X11R6/lib/X11 when I ran the grep command so I 
think it should have worked. grep string file right? When I 
substituted S3 for MediaGX it returned a bunch of matches. I also 
looked at every entry in Cards and did not find MediaGX or anything 
else related to Cyrix.

>From what I read  on the Red Hat site support should have been 
there, but what I have is not the official Red Hat release. Apparently 
there were problems with MediaGX in Red Hat 5.2 and there is a 
package to correct it.

I guess there is plenty to learn about using linux from the 
command line without worrying about getting the GUI running.
