When you first boot up it should say the processer speed and the total
amount of memory installed.

If it is running below 233 Mhz then it is a Pentium.  If it is running from
233Mhz to 450Mhz it is a Pentium II.  If it is running at 450Mhz or above it
is a Pentium III.  If it is at exactly 233 Mhz then it can either by a
Pentium or Pentium II.  If it is running at exactly 450Mhz then it could be
a Pentium II, Pentium III or Celeron.  If it is running between 300Mhz to
500 Mhz then it /could/ be a Celeron.

This should be true for desktop models and more than likely the moblie
processers of these chips run at about this rate.  For example, the lowest
speed they have clocked the Pentium III at is 450Mhz, so if it is running at
300Mhz for example you can know that it is not a Pentium III, but probably
either a Pentium II or Celeron, since the highest rate a normal Pentium runs
at is 233Mhz.
