If this thing is going to be just a demand dialing router type thing I
would suggest taking a look at:
http://mpsdr/unx.nu/MINI/
It's a purpose built mini distro designed to do just that plus a cacheing
DNS.  Runs off of a single 3.5" floppy - doesn't even need a hard drive
at all.  I have it running here on a 486DX/2-66 machine with 16 megs RAM.
Took me all of about 5 minutes to setup and has worked perfectly right from
the start.  [if it sounds like I like this thing, I DO! A LOT!]

Not all internal modems are Winmodems.  The router I outlined above is
using an internal modem quite happily.  However, it can be difficult to
find a true *hardware* internal modem.  A *very* good site to assist in
