About question #1 ...

1. Just because your NIC is "not listed", you cannot assume it is NE2000
compatible. What is the make and model, and have you checked it in either
the Ethernet HowTo or the Hardware COmpatibility HowTo?

2. If it is NE2000 compatible, you configure it by supplying ONLY the io=
parameter, in the form io=0x300 (except replace the 300 with the actual base
address of your card). If you want to try guessing, use all values from 240
to 360, step 20. Leave both "irq=" and "miscellaneous" blank.

3. It is possible that the card is not being found because one of the
following is true:

        (a) there is an IRQ conflict. If you have never configured the card
yourself, and it is an isa card, it is likely to be at irq=3, io=0x300, and
the irq conflicts wit the second serial port. The only ways around this are
to move one of the two devices to another IRQ (or disable the serial port in
the BIOS).

        (b) that the card is PnP and is not being configured. The solution
to this depends on whether the card is isa (there is a package for this) or
pci (fix it in the BIOS).

As to question #2 ...

you tell RH to find it where you mounted it. For NFS, this will probably be

        servername:/cdrom

after which the RH installer will find its way to the right directory. (You
need to put /cdrom in /etc/exports on the server, of course, and be running
NFS on it). I don't know about ftp (I didn't recall, actually, that RH
supported ftp installs), but here too you will need to mount it where you
want it found.
