There is a way (I forgot where I read it, but it was some linux
documentation paper or something), that allows you to run telnet,
select "sz filename.ext", then you'd hit a key to put the telnet
session in the background and hit "rz" on your end, to download
the file.

Or also, you can invest in a copy of SecureCRT (damn worth it, the
office bought it -- licensed of course -- and it's wonderful), but it
only works on Windows. It allows you to telnet in and basically do
the same thing.. upload and downloading files, without the hassle
of setting the telnet session in the background.

Sorry, I wish I could help more, but I am still way behind in the
world of Linux.

Take care.
