Hey all, have been following the discussions here for awhile. I agree that an
external modem is best. However, sometimes one must have an internal PCI
modem. That was the problem I had to deal with. I found one that works. It
is the Actiontec 56k Internal PCI Call Waiting Modem. Until I found it I had
to keep Win95 on my computer just to access the internet. After I bought it I
could get rid of Win95. The manual that came with my modem contained all the
info I needed to configure it and it worked the first time. So, if you can't
have an external modem for whatever reason, and your ISA slots are all used and
you have an empty PCI slot, the Actiontec will work. For more info go to:

When you read the list of supported Operating Systems you see the great word
LINUX!
Heck, I would recommend buying this modem just to help insure they keep making
real modems and don't get caught up in the WinModem only game.
