Gedit crashes, more info

Hi All:
I just installed RH6.1, and for the most parts things work fine.
But whenever I start the gedit it crashes, not the system, with the following
message:
"Application "gedit" (process 606) has crashed due to a fatal error
(segmentation fault)."
How may I correct this?
Any suggestions appreciated.
