and got as a reply quite a few good suggestions and i thought I will 
let you know my final solution: re-assemble the files with WinZip in 
W98 then copy them to Linux, where i have msdos mounted, with 
tkdesk or Gnome file manager. I love it.

I still can't print ps files so, that one I hate and I got only one 
suggestion sofar to that request of mine under this forum.
I have RH 6.1, my printer is Epson LQ-300 which does print ps files 
in RH 5.2 and Suse 6.1
