Well, if I can't get it to work, you want me to send it to you? :-)

I've redone the cables, but that has not fixed the problem. An odd thing
is that this drive also has the swap for my slackware system on it, and
that seems to be going ok so far. 'Course, I could just be lucky so far
that I haven't hit any corruption on the swap partition.

How did you come up with the idea of putting the drive in the fridge?
(Sorry, but it is not one of the usual troubleshooting tips I hear.)

Haven't tried this yet. It's up next after I try to salvage some files
using tar.

This system was running 2.2.12, and I have sources for 2.2.13 and 2.2.14.
 If I have to rebuild it, I will reinstall SuSE 6.2 and then update to
SuSE 6.3. I already have the cds; I was just waiting for a good
opportunity. Can't really say this is a "good" opportunity, but it is an
opportunity. Just wish I wasn't crashing on a couple of programming
assignments while all this is going on.
