I have no idea what tlan is a module for. But ...

See if "ifconfig -a" reports information on an eth0 interface. If it does,
then use ifconfig to set up the card. Consult the man page for complete
details, but the line will be something like

   ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255

replacing the numbers with the right ones for your setup, of course. Then
add routes to your local network(s) and gateway ("man route") and you are
(probably) ready to connect to the Internet.
