It doesn't have a handy little list.

It has a massive built in list.

if you are using vim (Vi IMproved) then hitting F1 in vi will
give you masses of searchable help. Find what you are after
then quit back to your document with :q!

After a while all the main stuff will sink in.

You can check out the vim-common* (may have version numbers after it)
directory in /usr/doc for ways of mapping keys and commands in vi

I'd love to keep using pico but it stuffs up word wrapping sommink
cronic.. and VI doesn't have that handy little list 
of comands at the bottom..
