I have another user account that I use purely for college-based stuff.
The helpdesk tells me that the server supports POP3 (as is confirmed by
fetchmail). There are a couple of caveats about this now: I log on to the
local machine (at home) as karthik. I have a name on the blitz server as
Karthik.Vishwanath which I have aliased as karthikv. So I can log onto
the local blitzmail (in windows) as karthikv. The helpdesk tells me that
the my pop server is "donner.dartmouth.edu" and SMTP is
"mailhub.dartmouth.edu". So my .fetchmailrc is :
------------------------
set postmaster "karthik"
set bouncemail
set properties ""
poll donner.dartmouth.edu with proto POP3 port 25
user "karthik.vishwanath" there is karthik here
 ------------------------

On running fetchmail -v -v this is what I get:
-------------------------
fetchmail: 5.1.0 querying donner.dartmouth.edu (protocol POP3) at Mon, 27
Mar 2000 22:52:26 -0500 (EST)
fetchmail: POP3< 220 donner.Dartmouth.EDU server
ready (BlitzServ 3.8.3 POP+Kerberos 03/09/00).
fetchmail: POP3> QUIT

fetchmail: POP3< 221 donner.Dartmouth.EDU saying so
long for now!
fetchmail: client/server protocol error while
fetching from donner.dartmouth.edu
fetchmail: Query status=4
fetchmail: normal termination, status 4
Done.
-------------------------

Can anyone tell me whats happening?

Thanks,
-Karthik.
