This is the way I do it. And it isn't that much trouble.
Normally you don't have to do this quite often. Only ISPs might.
Than AFAIK this is done by scripts that do the same thing you
would do by hand. adduser was a script some time ago. In case you
don't find anything like that online, you sould get that adduser
script, check if the paths are ok, than correct it to do the other way
around...
