Create the actucal graphic file, or create a click-able icon?

There is a program called `iconedit` (IIRC) that will allow you to create
.xpm icon graphic files.

If you are trying to put an icon on the desktop, we would have to know what
windows manager you are running. I know KDE can do this and also GNOME(??)
and if you windows manager doesn't support this, you can grab `dfm` which
will allow you to place icons on the desktop.
