REDHAT 6.2 MOUSE POINTER IS A BIG SQUARE!!! :(

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to solve this??  I Cant seem to figure it out.  I have an s3 vid card and am running the base install of redhat 6.2.  I have tried many configuration changes and have turned off gpm and cant seem to get anywheres.....never seen this before....   please help!!   thanks in advance     Wylie Edwards
