Hi, Darryl,

 Well, there really aren't any 'nice' levels around. But every process has
a priority of execution. And the operating system has built-in algorithms
to give each process a 'time' of execution proportional to its priority.
You can adjust these priorities with the 'nice' utility. So see 'man
nice'.
