AFAIK, mutt can read my /var/spool/mail/$USER file, the problem is no mail
ends up there. If I draft a message with mutt to myself (using my username)
the mail disappears. I had this problem before, and I fixed it by altering
something in my .muttrc (I'm again embarrassed to admit I failed to note
that change also.)
