I do not have this file. This box hasnt been recompiled before (used from
fresh install), so perhaps that's the reason why.

You mean, if i have that file, i dont need to do make config, make zImage?
That would be a great relief though I dont have the file on my system.

During a recompilation, will linux actually detect my existing config as
default values for the various questions in make config? My worry is that i
might make a wrong answer, and mess up. Although i can have the current
image in lilo.conf as backup during bootup, the server is on a slow end, so
i want to avoid recompiling due to access reasons.
