Hi there! I'm running RH 6.1 with xfree86-3.5.5. My box is Dell dimension
with nvidia geforce graphics board and 128MB memory. I was using the
standard setup with gdm and gnome, but with not so good success. Main
thing that I do with this computer is opengl coding with mesa. When I'm
running netscape 4.7.3 or earlier the system tends to crash after a while.
The system kicks me out from the X and gdm and kills all my processesl.
System tries to restart gdm, sometimes with no success and I have to
reboot the system. I could not even open a consol from the keyboard.
After that I changed the system to start on runlevel 3 and just
starting x from the consol. I still used gnome. The problem still occured,
but this time just kicking me out and I could startx from a new consol
locally. When crashing the system gives error message from xfree. Has
anyone had the same kind of trouble? Should I just update newer version of
xfree.
