The same thing happens to me if I use the GUI install of RH 6.2.

When I installed 6.1 on an old computer, the default install mode was text
and that worked just fine.
I'm doing an install of 6.2 (in text mode) on another computer as I type
this.
Less than one minute to go:-)
I haven't had any install problems with it and I've installed it a few
times
over the last few days as I swap between it and Caldera.

Try text mode for install.
