To capture all the errors/msgs that X will put out into a file you can use the
following: 'startx >wm.log 2>&1' which will stick everything in wm.log.
And it might be that the keyboard still sends keys but the console doesnt
print them anymore, you might want to try blind typing 'reset' in the console
and see if that will fix it.
