Good listers,

I have been running 'that' other operating system concurrently for a while
now and am moving slowy to pention it off..

However, I have have observed some unusal behaviour when it comes to being
online to the internet and was hoping that soembody can shed some light for
me.

        To expalin.

My Linux internet connection is slower that my W95 one. It takes much
longer to load pages and download files in L than in W.

I'm _reasonably_ confident that my obvious settings are correct (like
proxy servers in Netscape) and identical but over the weekend my connection
was still slow.

A specific example was downloading a kerenl patch file. Linux was giving
me a through put of about 1.3K/sec, the same file in W98 has a through-put
of 2.7K/sec. In each case I was not running any 'other' programs (that I'm
aware of)

Linux is RH6.2 with 2.2.16 Kernel, running KDE (version ?). W is 98SE

Can you good people please suggest a reason(s) for this sort of behaviour,
what things I should check (probably I just missed something obvious), and
what I can do to correct it.

I havn't given you all the information I _could_ (probably should) as I
don't know what information would be useful and what would be rubbish. So
if you need more information PLEASE feel free to ask.

        Thanks heaps in advance.
