Hi !
>When I started out with Linux...you had to use Win95 and not Win98.
Errr, huh ? I used W95 as well as W98 side by side with Linux on
dual-boots and network, never saw a force to use W95 instead of W98....or
do I misunderstand you ?

That is right, W95 does not support USB, because when W95 came out USB was
not available (so why support sth that doesn't even exist). But I heard
that there is an add-on for USB-support for W95 available on the MS
website. Or there is maybe also a handy tool out on the web that makes W95
speak to USB, both is worth a try.

I have no problem using W98 together with Linux. I have two boxes, both
dual-boot with lilo to RH 6.1 and W98, both are networked and basically
each box can see the other no matter what OS is running. If you still want
to upgrade to W98, you basically have to trash your old W95 (means boot
into W98 by floppy or CD, format ur drive and then go on), install W98
where W95 was before and finally reinstall lilo by booting into linux with
a bootdisk.
I even had a triple boot with W98, BeOS and Linux on one box and on one
harddrive and didn't see any problem with that...although installing was a
bit tricky.
