hi all,
my dns finally works, and i was trying to configure smb on my machine ...
Here is the environment:

I have two machines one with win 98 and other a freshly installed red hat
linux 6.0 ( full install )
connected through ethernet. the ipaddress of linux box is 192.168.5.3
i am able to ping both from the client and from the serrver successfully.

i the nedited the /etc/smb.conf

1.)i set the workgroup the sams as on win machine
2.) Security changed to user
3.)Made local master,
4.) enables os level 33
5.) made it preferred master
6.) enabled domain logons
7.) Made it wins server
8.) removed comments from [netlogon] section
9.) enabled encrypted passwords and the /etc/smbpasswd file

10.) changed the password thru smbpasswd -a username
11.) succeffully restarted smb

Now on the linux box when i give:
smbclient '//192.168.5.3/homes' -U username

it gives the message "
Added interface 192.168.5.3 broadcast 192.168.5.255 netmask 255.255.255.0

and freezes ther e for 30 seconds.

( also i am not able to logon from my win machine )

please suggest me how to correct it ..
thanks a lot,
regards,
gaurav
