It's actually quite easy. RAID config is always placed on HDDs too.
So, replace riser, then start system w/o having HDDs connected. Update to most 
recent RAID FW (to avoid any FW issues), then goto F2 BIOS to adjust RAID/SCSI 
settings for your channels, after that goto RAID BIOS + clear any existing 
configs (Configuration -> Clear configuration). 
Finally power off your server + connect your HDDs, then turn it back on and 
boot. The config should be imported automatically. 
If not, you should get something like 'NVRAM mismatch' during POST. Then goto 
RAID BIOS again -> Configuration -> View/Add configuration -> choose config 
from HDDs -> check if it is as expected -> then exit + save this config.

That's it.
