Aha, got it.

The Dell Tech I spoke to told me to install:

http://ftp.us.dell.com/diags/dell-pediags-linux-2.9.0.267-A00.tar.gz

He obviously hasn't been told that dell-pediags is now called
dell-onlinediags and that I should have installed:

http://ftp.us.dell.com/diags/dell-onlinediags-linux-2.15.0.169.tar.gz

instead.

All working now:

[r...@b034 bin]# cd /opt/dell/onlinediags/oldiags/bin
[r...@b034 bin]# ./pediags sasdevdiag --show

Device Index : 1
Device Name : Dell PERC 6/i Adapter RAID Controller 1
Description : Dell PERC 6/i Adapter RAID Controller 1
Device Class : RAID Controller
Device Status : Device is working properly.
Device Location : PCI Bus 3, Device 0, Function 0
Additional H/W Info : Firmware: 6.2.0-0013, Driver Version:
00.00.04.08-RH2, Cluster inactive
etc.

The GUI app is working too.

R.
