How about the Kingston memory configurator? It allows searching by type, which then lets you see a list of motherboards and systems that use that type.
http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator_new/type.asp A quick search for the RAM you mentioned (I think) yielded this result: http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator_new/models.asp?System=&Dist ributor=0&OriginalSysPN=&Manufacturer=&KTCPartNo=KVR667D2S8P5%2F1G -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Chris Trainor Sent: 27 July 2010 22:37 To: Wiley Sanders; [email protected] Subject: RE: DIMM to Server cross reference I don't know of any database like that, but it would sure be useful! :) Off the top of my head those DIMM's should work in 1950's, 2950's and R900's. They may also work in 2850's, but I have not had a chance to try it yet. (2850's are DDR2, but slower, not sure if the 5300's will run at that speed, but should) --Chris -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Wiley Sanders Sent: Tuesday, July 27, 2010 5:09 PM To: [email protected] Subject: DIMM to Server cross reference Howdy, Does anyone know of a cross-reference online that I can enter a DIMM specification, and find a list of servers / motherboards that use that spec of DIMM? For example, I have a pile of 2GB PC2-5300 DDR2 ECC Registered DIMMS here removed from a Sun X4200 and salvaged from a dumpster (!). I am pretty sure these are compatible with the PE 1950 and slower DDR2-socketed PowerEdges. If not, I should start compiling a Sun-Dell crossreference. (Consumer mobos are rarely ECC + Registered - although I'd pay extra for one considering how much old registered memory I find.) -w _______________________________________________ Linux-PowerEdge mailing list [email protected] https://lists.us.dell.com/mailman/listinfo/linux-poweredge Please read the FAQ at http://lists.us.dell.com/faq _______________________________________________ Linux-PowerEdge mailing list [email protected] https://lists.us.dell.com/mailman/listinfo/linux-poweredge Please read the FAQ at http://lists.us.dell.com/faq -- Scanned by iCritical. _______________________________________________ Linux-PowerEdge mailing list [email protected] https://lists.us.dell.com/mailman/listinfo/linux-poweredge Please read the FAQ at http://lists.us.dell.com/faq
