It is certainly *possible*. I've done it for the WD2002FYPS on non-DELL kit. In my particular case the update package (from Western Digital) would not apply the update via the RAID card I was using and so I had to remove the drives to a standalone box, which was a bit tedious for 22 drives! You should make sure that the firmware updates are appropriate for the environment - DELL (and others) often have specific firmware which is tailored to their setup. Regards, John
