If the name of the interface must be changed then can I add eom0, eom1, to the list of suggestions, please? Interface names should be short and should "sound interfacy". "e" is a good letter to begin the name with - Linux chooses eth0, BSD chooses em0, Irix chooses ec0, Solaris, well... let's not talk about Solaris. if0 and if1 would make sense, too, but I wouldn't proposing them on this occasion, as it wouldn't really make it obvious why they'd be chosen instead of eth0. Interface names en0, en1 &c are used on Macs. I think it's a pretty good name, but let the Macs keep it. eom1, eom2 contain 3 letters and begins with the letter "e", just like the current ethX naming. eom stands for ethernet-on-motherboard, so is at least somewhat intuitive. Sorry to be critical of these other suggestions, but nomX just makes me think of the nomnomnom lolcat, methX of junkies' booking photos. Actually, nomnomnom makes for funnies, but not beginning with "e" or "i" breaks the "sound interfacy" rule, so is therefore slightly ugly and would confuse people more on first encounter with the new convention. Finally, everyone knows bike sheds should be blue or green. That's the colour they were when I was at school, and I see no need to change now.
