Thanks for the link/hint.
I remembered your post but did not associate it with my problem.
Yet, it pointed me into the right direction.
My iDRAC6 Enterprise, though having a dedicated NIC, is set to "Shared with
Failover: All LOMs".
This was done on purpose for availability reasons because unlike the iDRAC7
(and later) the iDRAC6 does not have an "Auto dedicated" NIC failover feature
which would only use the shared LOMs in case the dedicated NIC is down.

Setting the iDRAC6 Enterprise NIC selection to "Dedicated" solved the problem
for me but anyone with iDRAC Express is probably out of luck.
