Stefan,
        The case that I encountered recently was that Dell released a
UEFI update 2.7.0 that included a microcode update for Intel CPUs in
Dell PE R630 servers. One week later, Dell recalled the update and
recommended that the UEFI be downgraded from version 2.7.0 to version
2.6.0. You can still see the reference to the recalled UEFI at
<http://www.dell.com/support/article/in/en/inbsd1/sln308588/microprocessor-side-channel-vulnerabilities-cve-2017-5715-cve-2017-5753-cve-2017-5754-impact-on-dell-emc-products-dell-enterprise-servers-storage-and-networking->.
I was able to downgrade all the formerly-upgraded UEFIs with the DSUs
and reboots. I am uncertain what the Lifecycle Controller contains
that might necessitate a downgrade, but I have noticed that Dell has
infrequently recalled problematic firmware and replaced it with either
a minor increment to the version or an outright downgrade. If Dell
could make it easier to connect the reason for the downgrade to the
recommendation of the DSU, then I would greatly appreciate it.
