Hi,

While the repository refresh takes time till 05/18, DSU can still consume the
latest catalog available at ftp.dell.com<ftp://ftp.dell.com> or
downloads.dell.com which contains the latest updates.
Regarding the BIOS update not working as expected, we’ll work with the
dependent team and update you accordingly.

Regards,
Sashi

mitigate Spectre

Hi Sashi/Dell,
What about the original complaint of my original e-mail (which the subject of
this e-mail alludes to)?? (See
http://lists.us.dell.com/pipermail/linux-poweredge/2018-April/051685.html and
http://lists.us.dell.com/pipermail/linux-poweredge/2018-April/051695.html)
I was fully expecting that it would take a little while until the update shows
up in DSU and that's fine.

The problem is that, even after it does show up in DSU, the update still won't
work in doing what it claims to do. As I mentioned, it does not do anything to
address the Spectre vulnerability on R815 systems running Opteron 6200 or 6300
series processors (including Opteron 6378), which this BIOS update is
specifically supposed to address. Why is this?
Any explanations/updates on that??
Thanks.

Hi,

Latest R815 BIOS (SWB - PDFYH) is not yet carried in 18.04.00 DSU
repository(latest available) as it is released after our repository refresh.
We refresh DSU repository 3rd week of every month.
Since the current available repository was refreshed on 20th of April, next
repository refresh (18th of May) shall carry this update.

Regards,
Sashi

Why?? Maybe because
https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/dsu/ references this mailing list, and
though not exclusively, mainly Dell tech team is here for that reason.

And nowhere near hijacking - if Dell guys read this they should see these are
directly connected. And since, I'd imagine most of us here use DSU we are
disappointed again that we learn again(this way) that maintenance of the repo
is bit shoddy.(nothing to do whit you)
