Dear Matt,

To update everyone, it appears that Dell has released a new 3.4.1 BIOS
update for R815 as of today.

It hasn't been added to the Meltdown/Spectre status page (also of course
not in DSU yet), but it can be found here:
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=TNTXF

Thank you for the update. Too bad that the Dell employees on this list didn’t keep us up-to-date.

I've tested it out on systems running Opteron 6200 series and systems
running Opteron 6300 series, and it works for both!! I now see the ibpb CPU
flag and my checks for Spectre come back as not vulnerable now!

Nice. Thank you for the feedback.

Also, AMD released new microcode updates for both EPYC and Opteron
processors (and others) to the linux-firmware project upstream around a
week ago. Commit is here:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/commit/?id=77101513943ef198e2050667c87abf19e6cbb1d8.
Expect distros to pick up this update soon..

Please note, AMD screwed this upload up also for Trinity CPUs [1].

The fam15h microcode update adds IBPB

  * Indirect Branch Prediction Barrier (IBPB)
    * PRED_CMD MSR is available: YES
    * CPU indicates IBPB capability: YES (IBPB_SUPPORT feature bit)

For some reason this firmware update deletes microcode for Trinity CPUs, I
tried to contact the person who commit this
without any luck. As I have previously written the github page has even newer
microcode.

[…]

Thanks.
