Drew/All, R710 uses the Broadcom 5709 chip for the LOMs while the R410 uses the 5716 chip for the LOMs. RHEL 5.2 has native support for the 5709 but not 5716.
RHEL 5.3 (bnx2 verion 1.7.9-1) and later have native support for the 5716 as well and should work fine. -- Charles Rose Linux Engineering, Dell Inc. http://linux.dell.com > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] [mailto:linux- > [email protected]] On Behalf Of Drew Weaver > Sent: Wednesday, July 15, 2009 6:17 PM > To: linux-poweredge-Lists > Subject: NIC in R410 > > Hi there, I just wanted to let everyone know that we just got an R410 > in to test and that it uses different NICs than the R710 and pretty > much only works with Redhat/CentOS. > > We have the R710 working out of the box in: > > Debian 4/5 > Ubuntu 7/8/9 > Fedora 7/8/9/10/11 > CentOS 4/5 > RHEL 4/5 > VMWare ESXi 3.5/4 > XenServer 5.5 > Gentoo 2008.1 > > Just wanted to let people know that if they're expecting the R410 to > work the same as the R710 as far as NICs go they may be disappointed. > > thanks, > -Drew > > > _______________________________________________ > Linux-PowerEdge mailing list > [email protected] > https://lists.us.dell.com/mailman/listinfo/linux-poweredge > Please read the FAQ at http://lists.us.dell.com/faq _______________________________________________ Linux-PowerEdge mailing list [email protected] https://lists.us.dell.com/mailman/listinfo/linux-poweredge Please read the FAQ at http://lists.us.dell.com/faq
