Hello, here is the OMSA comp. Guide: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/software/svradmin/6.1/en/COMPAT/HT ML/4admnver.htm VMware(r) ESX Version 3.5 Update 4 VMware ESX Version 4 VMware ESXi Version 3.5 Update 4 VMware ESXi Version 4
In Esx 3.5 U4 they implement an embedded OMSA first time. All you need was to download the OMSA webservice, install it on another system and connect to the embedded OMSA or OMSA's. This works on all G11 machines. Vsphere I have not tested until now but related to the link in the prev. post it looks like the same: To enable CIM OEM providers on the VMware ESXi 4 system using vSphere Client: 1) Log on to the VMware ESXi 4 system in which vSphere Client is installed. 2) Click the Configuration tab. 3) Under the Software section on the left side, click Advanced Settings. 4) In the Advanced Settings dialog box, click "UserVars" on the left pane. *** !!!!!5) Change the value of the "CIMOEMProvidersEnabled" field to 1. => this is the embedded OMSA *** 6) Click OK. 7) Restart your system for the change to take effect. Use the Summary tab in vSphere Client to restart the system. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Mike Hanby Sent: 20 July 2009 18:06 To: linux-poweredge-Lists Subject: RE: Release of OMSA 6.1 and vSphere4 Howdy Gene, Take a look at this thread on the VMware communities site for instructions on installing OM 6.1 on existing ESXi hosts: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/220783?start=0&tstart=0 Mike -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Mike Hanby Sent: Thursday, July 16, 2009 4:42 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Release of OMSA 6.1 and vSphere4 I was about to respond that I was wondering why Dell and VMware don't release an OpenManage + ESXi version, like they do for IBM. Well, it turns out they posted it today on the ESX download page: https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/p/activate.php?p=free-esxi&lp=1 VMware ESXi 4.0 with Dell Customization Version 4.0.0 | 164009 - 07/16/09 348 MB Binary (.iso) Image for ESXi Installable that includes Dell customization. I do not see any links on the page to explain what sort of Dell customizations are included, is it OpenManage, or just drivers for Dell hardware? -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Gene Tang Sent: Thursday, July 02, 2009 2:57 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Release of OMSA 6.1 and vSphere4 Hi there, With the release of OMSA 6.1 today, is anyone able to confirm for me its compatibility within vSphere4? I've looked around the official sources, and can only confirm compatibility with Redhat, but not with the VMware products.
