Howdy, We have an MD1000 connected to a RHEL4 server. Currently the MD1000 has 7 drives, 1 hot spare and 6 assigned to a single RAID 5 volume.
The RHEL4 server uses the device as it's own LVM. If we get more drives, is it possible to add the drives to the existing RAID 5 volume so that at the RHEL4 level I can just expand the logical volume? Or do I have to backup the data, delete the LVM info, delete the RAID 5 array and create a new one using the old and new drives, create a new file system and restore the data? I know this is possible with the MD3000i that I have, but not sure with the MD1000 (the MD1000 is not attached to the MD3000i).
