What version of CentOS?  5.2, 5.3?  Which kernel are you running?
(uname -a)  Do you have all the updates?

I tried that command here on a CentOS 5.3 x64 machine and it ran fine.
 You could try to run that command through 'strace' and see where it
crashes:
    strace omreport storage pdisk controller=0
