Hello,

I have a week old T410 that for the past two mornings has had its network
fail (3 AM and 2:30 AM CDT respectively). At least from what I can tell,
the failure was for its eth0 device to cease receive/transmit of packets.
eth1 was unconfigured at the time.

+ no messages on the console
  + no messages via 'dmesg'
  + nothing logged
  + ifconfig had errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0

The simple 'fix' was to restart RedHat Linux's network service.
   # service network restart

Anybody have suggestions on what I should try/do? The first failure
happened with the stock RHEL5.3 kernel (kernel-2.6.18-128.2.1.el5) and the
second failure was with the RHEL5.4beta kernel (kernel-2.6.18-157.el5) on
RHEL Server x86_64...

Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme II BCM5716 Gigabit Ethernet (rev 20)

I have eth1 configured now so to see if it continues to work if eth0
should fail again.

thanks!
   daryl
