Sorry, I should have provided more details. When using the CERC BIOS to create or manage an array, it announces that there are no disks detected. However, if I scan for the disks or let the BIOS do it's disk detection at boot, it reports all the disks as properly attached and talking.

Whatever problem there is seems to be at the controller-can't-handle- these-disks level, not at the create-an-array level.

Most likely a 2TB limitation (48bit lba) on a volume set on the host
controller. This is valid for most older lsi and adaptec controllers of
the era.

Try making a mirror and see if that works for you. Might be able to use
software raid to create a stripe of mirrors. That or LVM.

I have a LSI 300-8x that can't do > 2TB volumes. I suppose that provides a

Pretty much all controllers have a 48bit lba limitation on the physical
disks. Not sure if there are already controllers that support physical
disks with 64bit lbas
