I use uugetty, and found mgetty too--how to say?--full featured for my
tastes. But I wanted ppp recognition, so I took the AutoPPP recognition
from mgetty and put it into uugetty.
See http://www.rebel.net.au/~davidn/getty_ps-2.0.7h-rebel.patch.
It's a patch based on Red Hat's uugetty, which might not be exactly
the same as yours, but I assure you it's not so different that you
would have trouble. Now I've got "PPP=/usr/sbin/pppd" in my options.ttyC?
files, and it recognises PPP just fine!
Enjoy.
