You have to start pppd on the remote system. It doesn't happen magically
with uugetty. There are several ways to do this. Either login using your
ID and password and execute pppd manually on the remote system (can be
done with a chat script), create a "user" with pppd for the shell, or
install mgetty with AutoPPP support in place of uugetty for your incoming
modem line. Read the PPP-HOWTO and the PPP FAQ (especially for the user
shell approach), as well as the READMEs and SETUP files included with the
PPP distribution. Mgetty is a better approach, but requires more setup.
