Josh/Robin,
I never used /dev/nvram, never even heard of it, or maybe I just overlooked it.
But I guess I won't try it after your experience. When your modem wouldn't init
after rebooting, how did you reboot? Software command, Reset button, or power
off? Sometimes a memory or hardware problem requires power off for a minute or
so, Reset is not always sufficient. Or maybe something in the modem software
was altered, or maybe the startup configuration? Or maybe something in the
recompiled kernel? Do you still have a copy of the previous kernel to boot
from?
